Following the announcement from the French government to restrict air, road, ferry and train travel from the UK to France from 24:00 December 20 for 48 hours, Royal Mail has temporarily suspended services to Europe, other than to the Republic of Ireland.
This is a fast-moving situation and we are monitoring things on an hourly basis. We are working to keep as many international mail services running as possible given the current restrictions around air, road, ferry and train movements from the UK.
Items already posted and in transit will be processed as usual and made ready for dispatch. These items will be held securely until we are able to get them to their relevant destinations.
We will be ready to recommence our services as soon as we are able to, once restrictions have been lifted. We will also continue to explore all options for transit to Europe.
We are also experiencing delays to Canada and Turkey as air capacity has become severely limited as a result of flight restrictions from the UK.
