As if it needs any introduction; Shopify is the leading e commerce platform.

it is easy to see why with a range of packages from basic Shopify through to advanced and into Shopify Plus.

Shopify can cope with a wide range of clients. Whether you are just starting out or you are truly taking on ecommerce and scaling to millions in revenue per year.

Shopify have their own payments platform called Shopify payments which is based upon Stripe. The inbuilt Shopify payments, as well as other payment methods such as Apple Pay, PayPal, Google Wallet and a huge range of international payments and split payment options, make it super easy for your customers to make a purchase and come back, time and time again.

There is an excellent customer mobile app called ‘Shop’, this lets customers track their orders and browse products from Shopify merchants (keep an eye on this app, it could become a competitor to Amazon in time). For the admin there is a great admin app available on Android and iOS which allows you to manage multiple webstores, check orders, customers, add products, customise your site and do 98% of the functionality that is available on the main website.

For multi store brands you can manage multiple stores at once, through one dashboard, as well as opening, different language, and location options, such as a European site, and the US site using the same data (available on Shopify Plus natively).

Shopify has by far the best range of apps for an ecommerce platform. Many available for free or a very low monthly rate. These apps range from site personalization, upsell tools, category management, bulk editing tools, newsletter signups, customer service integrations and tens of thousands more!

For support you can get help from Shopify using their ticket system, and live chat. You will always get a response within a few hours; mission critical issues are dealt with fast. Due to the millions and millions of sites that are powered on Shopify if there is any network or admin issue it is spotted and dealt with quickly. Shopify infrastructure is highly well regarded and tested, powering some of the biggest web stores, as well as the highest traffic. It copes well even with massive spikes in traffic due to Instagram posts and celebrity endorsements.

Adding and amending products is super simple. The user interface is remarkably simple yet functional, products can be added manually (on the web site and the mobile apps) as well as imported via Excel/CSV imports. It can handle products with variations such as colour and size, allowing up to 50 variations per product.

Managing your staff is easy with user roles. Users can be edited, and you are able to create user roles that can be quickly assigned to users such as Warehouse or Customer Service. You can ensure two factor authentication, which we highly recommend ensuring site security.

For look and feel there is there is a huge range of web themes available on many sites, including ThemeForest, as well as on the Shopify theme store. Due to Shopify being the most common ecommerce platform the wealth of knowledge from developers and the community is huge, many issues can be resolved quickly. Help and guidance is available on the Shopify forums, as well as on several popular Facebook groups.

The templating system called Liquid is easy for any developer or budding coder to grasp and small to medium improvements are possible with just an hour or two of tinkering.

We find Shopify to be the most reliable, and swift way to bring a product or brand to market. From an initial idea you can quickly create a store within just a few minutes.
